How to ban, temp ban and unban players on your Rust server

A ban is applied on the server straight away: the player is added to the server's ban list and removed if they are online. Other players see no ban message in chat, while the banned player sees the reason on their disconnect screen.

Ban a player

   Open the player's profile, or use the ban action in a player list.

   Choose one server, or turn on the organization wide option to ban on every server.

   Write the reason and pick a category, such as Cheating, Toxicity or Ban evasion.

   Choose permanent or temporary.

   Optionally ban their most recent IP, ban their teammates too, or share the ban with partner organizations.

   Confirm.

Each ban adds a strike to the player's history, writes an audit entry, notifies staff and can trigger automation.

Temp ban a player

Choose temporary and set the duration. The ban ends on its own when the time runs out, and the Temp Ban Completed automation event fires, for example to post it in Discord. You can still revoke a temporary ban early.

Unban a player

   Open Bans, or the Bans section of the player's profile.

   Find the ban by name, Steam ID or IP.

3. 3

   Select Revoke. The ban is lifted on all your servers.

GameSentry only lifts bans it made. A ban added directly on the server, for example from the in game console, is lifted with the unban command followed by the player's Steam ID in the Console.

Manage bans

• See every ban in Bans, filtered by status, player or server, and search by name, Steam ID or IP.
• If a server is offline when you ban, the ban is applied when it comes back.
• Bans that partners share with you are read only. Only the partner can revoke them.
